Overview
The Safeguarding Essentials course provides a clear, practical introduction to safeguarding responsibilities for anyone working or supporting learners in education settings.
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility and requires staff to understand their duty of care, signs of abuse or neglect, reporting procedures, and professional conduct. This course is designed to ensure participants can recognise safeguarding concerns, respond appropriately, and follow correct escalation processes in line with statutory guidance.
Through practical examples and real-world scenarios, participants gain confidence in identifying risks, handling disclosures, maintaining professional boundaries, and understanding their role within a safeguarding framework. The course supports consistent, compliant practice across schools, colleges, and education providers.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Understand core safeguarding principles and responsibilities
Recognise signs of abuse, neglect, or risk
Respond appropriately to concerns and disclosures
Follow reporting and escalation procedures confidently
