Overview

The Safeguarding, Pastoral Care and Professional Boundaries course is designed to support educators, leaders, and support staff in maintaining safe, ethical, and professional relationships with learners while delivering effective pastoral support.

Safeguarding and pastoral care are central to education practice, requiring a clear understanding of duty of care, professional boundaries, appropriate conduct, and escalation procedures. This course provides practical guidance on recognising safeguarding concerns, responding appropriately to disclosures, and balancing supportive relationships with professional responsibility.

Participants will explore real-world scenarios involving student wellbeing, vulnerable learners, digital communication, and staff–student interactions. The course emphasises safeguarding-first decision-making, clear record keeping, and alignment with statutory guidance, supporting confident and consistent practice across education settings.

By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to:

• Recognise safeguarding concerns and act appropriately

• Maintain clear professional boundaries in pastoral roles

• Respond confidently to disclosures and wellbeing issues
