Overview
The Teaching in the UK Readiness Programme is a practical preparation course designed to support aspiring and internationally trained teachers in understanding and transitioning into the UK education system with confidence.
The programme provides a structured introduction to how teaching works in the UK, including classroom expectations, safeguarding responsibilities, professional standards, curriculum frameworks, and routes into employment or further qualification. It is ideal for individuals who have teaching experience overseas, unqualified teachers currently working in schools, or career-changers exploring a teaching pathway.
Participants will gain insight into the UK school environment, including behaviour management, inclusive practice, SEND awareness, lesson planning, assessment, and professional conduct.
What the Programme Covers
Participants will develop understanding and practical confidence in areas including:
• UK school culture, expectations, and professional standards
• Safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
• Behaviour management and classroom practice
• Supporting learning and lesson delivery
• Professional communication and boundaries
• Navigating school environments with confidence
The programme is designed to be accessible to those with no prior teaching experience, while still offering depth and realism about working in UK schools.
From Training to Classroom Experience
A key strength of this programme is its focus on progression beyond training.
Lead Learning works in partnership with education recruitment agencies that support participants who successfully complete the programme to access school-based work opportunities. These partnerships help learners move from preparation into paid classroom roles, gaining real UK school experience.
While employment outcomes depend on individual circumstances and school availability, the programme is designed to support a smooth transition from training into work wherever possible.
